Topic: 67 A/C line hangers

Was a hanger used and when I say hanger I am referring to what looks like plastic wire ties used to hand the a/c lines from the engine compartment brackets, were these used for 67 mustangs and cougars ? The only ones I can remember seeing is used on Shelbys and not always for a/c lines.

Lol Jeff yes I am its for my cougar but I would think the mustang and ccougar were both done the same ?  I did take a look at other posts and didn't see anything as I thought this would have been covered.

Its not the fact that they were different models since the same people built them on the same line but how different assembly plants might have done things or used different practices. Will take a look to see what I can offer in pictures

The ones used for the A/C lines were a rubber product and not plastic. They were regular Mustang parts.They had a unique looking round metal pin that held the two sides together.  They were seen on 67-69 production Mustangs . Cougars too from what i have seen because  (no offense meant) Cougars are great sources for parts. Many Cougars had A/C ,tilt, etc. I have picked many a A/C strap regardless of plant from Junk yard Cougars until AMK started selling a copy. The only problem with the AMK ones is that they start to get brittle when put into service . Good for a couple years if you are lucky typically . Compared to decades for genuine. The AMK ones look the part but are not made as good as genuine.

My experience have been different than Bob's as I've only seen one 67-68 Mustang or Cougar built at San Jose with these and that example had four so don't know if they were added to improve the other wise low mileage car.  Just my experiences

2 is what I have typically seen  holding the hoses to the cowl/export brace. Less frequently I have seen four but do see four sometimes also.  Pg 8 of the chassis assembly manual seems to concur for the two at least. FYI don't forget the two rubber coated clips that hold the two A/C hoses together .

I got about 6 months out of mine. I was going to place an order for several this am but I will pm Marty instead.

Hmmm. Dearborn with Thermactor...interesting  Seems rare at first glance but then I thought "Cougar"...So,  Yes, then I noticed the VIN & the MERCURY AC tag

The straps are steel then dipped (except for the ends) in rubber. Tool dip works just fine if your restoring originals. May take a couple fo applications to get enough build up of the product on the metal to match the originals especially of the can of dip os new and its very thin still.

Complete one on the right - stripped to metal on the left. Believe Marti posted a thread where he remade some out of strap steel. If I recall correctly from a pallet wrap. Cutting the thin rectangle hole has to be fun

Thanks Jeff, I don't know if its just me not paying attention to these before but I cant remember seeing a car with these seems like there aren't many in use out there.
