Bolt Brake/Fuel Line Clip-- Oct 64 San Jose

Trying to see what type of bolt or screw held the two clips that hold the brake and fuel line clips underneath the car at the transmission tunnel.  Is it 40169 or is it 40156 which also holds the muffler hanger to the body?  Mine currently is a hex head but also has a slot to use a flat head screwdriver, which is similar to the K code that Virginia Mustang restored (see pics below).  The replacement clip kit contains bolts.  Which is correct for SJ Oct 64 timeframe? And yes Jim I did look at the spreadsheet...

The difference between the two screws in 3/4 vs. 5/8 inch, easily interchanged, difficult to verify by a QA inspector after installation. A slotted hex head screw would have been easily accepted by an inspector as a deviation. However, both of those clips used a butterfly type retainer, not a screw. (You can see an assembled clip from AMK, 2014 Cat, pg 147, stock no - B-10276, Ford p/n 380374-S100, and page 146 for two better pictures of the butterfly clips.) What I found is the original butterfly clip had a sealer similar to the yellow 3M8001 adhesive in color, but with the consistency closed to a balloon, a very small balloon. Current reproductions use a foam disc, not like originals. AMK carries the butterfly clips, 352191-S8 (AMK 2014, pg164).

It's another 'oddity', screws were used in place of the butterfly clips.  Drives the engineer-type guys crazy  ;-)

I don't have any feedback on the slotted or non-slotted heads, but the ones I have seen were non-slotted, looked about the same as solenoid attaching screws.

Just another reason to always focus on details based on when and where the car was built.  This is a running change what was noticed a few years back. Should be mentioned that the pictures you posted are from a car from another production period. 

From the Oct 64 San Jose fastback we posted pictures of in another thread. Standard hole is just filled/covered with black dum-dum
