D2 Trim on a 64.5 Model
« on: March 06, 2017, 05:07:43 PM »
Dear experts,
I'm still looking for my Mustang convertible. Yesterday I have seen a 64.5 F-Code convertible in Guardsman Blue with production date 11G (July 11 1964). This one has white standart interior with blue trim "D2". Should it not have code "42" for a 64 1/2 model?
Thanks,
Michael

Repro door plate?  Also, when you say F code, are you referring to the engine or assembly plant?

It is a F-Code engine and F-Code Dearborn car.

I uploded the link, and there is a photo from the Door Tag. I'm not sure if it is original.
It seems to be, the previous car owner seems to be a MCA member.. Anyone know this car?

Looks like the original door plate or possibly an old repro that has aged.  The interior code doesn't fit with what it normally expected as you've pointed out.

Car looks good in the pictures.  I know of a couple Guardsman Blue 64.5 convertibles I've seen at MCA shows before, but they were all done to concours standards, which the car for sale is not.

Thanks a lot Charles for your expertise.
I'm very curious to understand the differences between concours and not concours car. Could you tell me where it is obvious on the pictures? I guess the carpet and spinner hub caps are wrong and don't fit for 64 1/2.
As soon as the car is arriving at the dealer, I will receive more photos from it.

Guardsman Blue with white interior is one of my favorite color combination.

The undercarriage is the biggest indicator.

Is the car in AZ now?  I noticed an AZ license plate....

The car is on its way to Netherlands, where it was bought by Geevers (Mustang and Pagode specialist).
