ISO 1967 Fastback...
« on: January 18, 2017, 12:58:17 PM »
...I know…who isn’t? I am just starting to test the waters and throwing out a line to see what options might be available to me.

I am hoping to acquire a 67 S code (although I would consider A or K code) fastback, manual transmission in Nightmist or Moss Green. Given the specifics, I know my options are fairly limited and will likely have to pay a premium…just trying to figure out how much that should be.

I have seen one in REALLY tough shape for $20k+ and I am guessing it would take another $30k+ just to make it a decent driver. Am I unrealistic in hoping to find a decent condition driver in the $35k?

I am seeking leads specifically from active forum members who have personal knowledge of such a car. I am suspect of the “restoration” jobs and condition of cars being sold through eBay and CL, but I do watch them…no need to post links to cars you have seen on these venues unless you are familiar with that particular car.

Any help or leads as I develop an idea of my approach and set a realistic budget would be appreciated!

Thanks, Paul. I am pretty sure that was the one I was referring to in need of $30k+ worth of work. It's an option, but not might ideal path at this point.

There is one for sale on the Sacc site.

It looks like Bret sold that one ($22k) to Benza and is now going for $26,900.

A buyer from my hometown picked up this beauty at BJ last Sunday. I know its more than you wanted to spend but the quality may be higher than you wanted as well.

Its a great time to buy a solid period correct car. The resto-mods and pro-touring seem to be demanding higher prices, which is great for the purists.

I purchased  68.5 CJ FB in 2015. A solid #2 with some rare options for the same amount (ballpark) that your looking to spend. The Blue-chips are out there, keep looking, be patient and wait for the car you want. Good-luck

Thanks for the info. Yes that car might be more than I was hoping to spend, but probably in line with what I would be willing to spend for engine and color combo in that condition.

At least you have given me hope that I don't have to shell out 30k for a totaled out rust bucket.
