Unable to slide sunvisor onto rod
« on: December 17, 2016, 11:24:25 AM »
Hi folks,
just got my new TMI Sunvisors for my 67 CV. It was quite easy to remove the old ones from the rod, but I can't get the new one onto the old bracket . Tried pretty much everything, but it won't work.
Any ideas what the problem is and how to solve it?

Thanks Homer

Homer,
Slide a thin rod, like the long section of a coat hanger, in the hole to see if there is in fact, a hole, one deep enough anyway. If there is, measure the diameter of the rod and select a drill bit slightly smaller, chuck it up in a drill, rotate the bit by hand, DON'T ACTIVATE THE DRILL, to clear and material in the hole. Be slow and methodical. And look down the hole a lot. I would advise against a lubricant as they have a tendency to work too well, the visor will slowly flop down, and a different post on keeping it in place will result.

Thanks Jim. I Nov tried to get through with a small Metall rod.
After 10min there came lots of wood chunks or whatever out of the visor.
Very strange. I now try get get everything out of the metal
Pipe inside.

If needed - use dish detergent to lubricate. It dries hard and won't droop like a oil lube would... ;)
