Topic: Heater control cable clamps

I was messing with the heater control panels out of my '65 (Sep '64) San Jose Fastback and '66 (Sep '65) San Jose Fastback and noticed they had different style clamps holding the cables to the control panel.
The '65 has the screws and the '66 has the clips. You can see that the '66 was designed to use the screws. I guess some engineer discovered that a worker could snap the clip onto the cable in 2.7 seconds but it would take 5.1 seconds to install the screw!

I have a late September '65 1966 San Jose car and it uses the screws..??  Luck of the draw.

Two Oct, 65 San Jose builds both with screw clamps. I believe my March, 66 had screws clamps as well. I thought the snap in types were used in 64. I've got a few of that type but do not know what cars they came from.

Mine is a late 66 Hardtop and uses the screws clamps.

Here's a photo for Tony and anyone else who hasn't seen these clamps. Two of the 'attaching legs" are C shaped and two are S shaped. The assembly person would hook the two C shaped legs onto the control panel and then push down on the side of the clamp with the S shaped legs, bending them outwards until they snapped into place on the control panel. I just dreamed up the 2.7 seconds in my first post but really- that's about how long it would take to do it once the person had done a few and had gotten the hang of it.

The clip is shown in the "Ford Standard and Utility Parts Catalog, January 65" pg 35 (also the 66 Catalog, pg 35) as p/n 378523-S32 with some basic dimensions. It is an alternate part in the 65 and 66 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manuals (pg 22, pg 27) for the screw attached clips. There is no heater page in the 64 Manual.
