Nice details Charles! I'm currently restoring the two speed wiper motor/bracket for my 66 SJ built GT vert. The detail pics sure help me out!

Charles, thanks for the update. I have been using Evaporust for the last few months and agree it works wonders. I did my front coils in it, found the original grey paint stripe perfectly intact (they had not been painted black).
I am planning on doing my rear leafs next week with the same method. I just completed my driveshaft using the same technique as you described and was very happy with the results (one white, one pink stripe for for my C code SJ car).

Nice that you are seeing similar results and finishes.

BTW, the blackish residue that comes off the coil springs after dipping them has to do with the springs having a high content of carbon steel (for strength.)
