Have your tried the Beachwood blueing paste?  It takes longer to blue but gives a deeper blueing that lasts longer. It also takes longer to blue but for me time is not an issue. I am going to try it but thought I would ask here 1st.

Yes, believe that is the kind I've used.  Comes in a kit and can be bought at a sporting goods store?

The sealant around the heater hoses seems to be a controversial topic. Was it used on all the cars?

Can you bring yourself to spray sound deadener on the tape on that motor?

I didn't know the heater hose sealant at the firewall was a controversial detail, seen it on plenty of cars.

Yep, no problem spraying sealer on the firewall, that's part of restoration!
