Application for C7ZF 18080 C1 marked rear shock

I need some help figuring out a application or multiple applications for some rear shocks with the engineering number of C7ZF 18080 C1. I am not able to find anything in my digital MPC. Thanks for any help.

All the 75 MPC shows is that the Ford Service Replacement is C5ZZ-18125-B, I could not find any other original shock replaced by the C5ZZ- number. You will need someone with a 68 MPC to assist.

Bob, there is a thread here "heavy duty shocks" that talks about that engineering number.

I checked to day in a May of 68 version FMPC and found no listing for that C1 number. Could this been a number assign to latter service parts?

They have a second week March 67 date on both. If a later service part it would stand to reason the date would coincide with a later production . I kept running into a C5-B part number to coincide with that engineering number. This is making my head hurt.

Looked also at an earlier MPC and it appears that Ford didn't service these for long (possibly just using up left over assembly line parts and what was put into the system during 67 production) as they were replaced , for servicing, to keep inventory at the parts counter to a minimum.  Much like all of the different C6 and C7 front shocks.

As stated in other threads, mine are November 66 dated for my December 20, 1966 build.  Also they do not show up in the Jan 67 MPC.  November to March (what we know) is not an insignificant duration. A head banger for sure. Bob do you know what vehicle yours came off of?

Sorry I do not know what vehicle they came off of. I got them in a recent parts transaction at the fall Columbus swap. They came from a long time Detroit area parts purveyor of NOS and new take off type parts.

I was going to check for the paint mark and realized they are packed up and boxed as they have been sold to another forum member. I will let someone else finish figuring it out if they desire. Thanks for the help all who answered.

Looking at my 1975 version of the Mercury MPC: Rear shock C7ZF-18080-C, is part of kit C4DZ-18125-D, and is also referenced as Motorcraft number AX-76.

It appears that C7ZF-18080-C rear shocks, were 'kitted up' as a replacement shocks for two different rear shock kits supplied by Ford. C4DZ-18125-D on the Mercury side, and C5ZZ-18125-B on the Ford side.

Bob,
C7ZF-18080-C shocks show in both the 67 & 68 Car parts books.
The 1967 Car parts book shows the C5ZZ-18125-B kit with an application of 67 Mustang '289 special, heavy duty'.
The 1968 Car parts book shows the same C5ZZ-B kit with an application of 68 Mustang "289-4v, 289-2v, 4v GT & 390 with special handling package, heavy duty".

+1 we came to this same conclusion today.
