66 T Code heater box
« on: October 31, 2016, 12:12:10 PM »
Hi all,

While I'm waiting for the smith to make me a aluminum spacer for my carb, I have removed the heater box to change all seals and heater hoses for Concours correct, paint, etc.. and I have seen what I think is a date code, but not sure what exactly is. It says Y6EB, does it means Year 66 May 2nd week..?

Also, have been looking for an original Autolite carb and found one with the same starting code Y6.. what does this code means..? And a Autolite C6TF-9510G would be correct for my application.?

Thanks,

Josep

Y6EB is 2nd week of May, 1966.  Not sure what 'Y' is, maybe manufacturer/supplier code.

I've seen the "Y" on many 64-66 San Jose cars including Shelbys. It must be a manufacturer's code.

I found the dates stamped on both my heater box and cardboard plenum (June '66 Dearborn car). Kinda curious if the same supplier would provide both. One interesting thing is that the heater box is stamped in yellow and the plenum is stamped in white.

Thanks all for the posts guys.! Mine is stamped in what it looks white. Only visible now Y6E, unfortunately I removed the B when trying to clean, the paint goes off very easy.

That part number is not correct for your car, C6TF would be for a truck application, without looking
in the MPC I would say its for a 6 cyl 240 engine in a truck.

There is only one factory correct carburetor for your car, C6OF-G.

Thanks C5ZZ and Jim,
I was just trying to identify a carb a saw on eBay, but I see that's not correct for me.
Right then, C6OF-G, I'll look for it.

Thanks,

Josep

I have both white and yellow ink stamped cardboard plenum . The dates don't seem to make a difference because of a mix of colors both early and late. It seems they could be ether way.
