I am redoing my front suspension for the upcoming season and I took apart the strut rods and my bushings appear original with a C4DZ part number and the front bushing actually says front on it. Does anyone make a correct looking one or does it matter?

It only matters is if you want it to look original . If you don't care then I guess try the auto parts store. You are in luck if you do care because previously NOS originals sold in 2-300.00 range sometimes more.  I believe you can get some correct looking reproductions from Brant at Virginia Mustang.

Hey Bob, I do want it to look original.  I meant do any of the repros have the word front molded into them on the side like the originals? I believe the part number gets hidden by the washer.

These are like the original except the FRONT markings are not on them.

Trying to determine if assembly line 65-66 strut rod bushings have C4DA engineering numbers?

None of the NOS kit bushings I've seen have the numbers...

They should, my originals did. I kept them even though they are worn. This set does:

i had recent discussions with a fellow Australian about the exact same topic.
seems NOS kits that are found on ebay of late have a mix and match of some correct parts and some incorrect parts.

the final nut seems to be something that is wrong on both kits in my opinion.
whether there was a difference in what was used on each assembly plant is something im still working on. i have viewed several NJ built 66 cars that have a different final nut to what im used to on SJ and Dearborn cars in the same year.

with regards to the rubbers.  most if not all original i have on hand have the word HARRIS and C4DA-3A225-B plus around the outter the word FRONT obviously to advise people which rubber goes towards the front of the car.

i also agree with JIM about the bushing not being used.

I see mostly San Jose Mustangs where I am (4.5 miles from the Milpitas Assembly plant), so what I have collected is 34426-S8 nuts. As there is no 66 Mustang Chassis Assembly Manual available, what was called out would be difficult to determine, first choice and any options. Keep in mind that New Jersey is in, and sent their cars to mainly rust belt areas. The strut rod nuts could have been changed in service departments, or driveways, to another type. All possibilities should be considered.

What's interesting is I have an early NOS kit with the correct assembly line nut, and washers, but no engineering numbers on the bushings. Also have an early TRW replacement kit where the bushings are identical to NOS but do have engineering numbers. The nut in the TRW kit is like the ebay NOS kits listed above, as are the washers, more rounded corners than assembly line.

Remember, Ford did not build or service Concourse grade cars. Service items are what would work and that's what customers wanted.
