66 GT Grill?
« on: October 07, 2016, 12:27:52 AM »
Is there a difference between a regular 66 Grill and a GT 66 grill besides mounting hardware. Meaning anything with painting or any other differences.

About to repaint and just want to make sure there isn't anything special I should be aware of...

Thanks

Jason

Jason,
No difference except paint. The paint itself, should be more flat than semi-gloss black.

Thanks Jim, do you know if the front leading edges of the horizontal grills still get the natural steel showing or is it entirely black on the GT grills?

+1, I've never noticed a difference in the shade of black either.  Maybe a San Jose thing.

Wow, I had heard this as a rumor, but didn't believe that the GT specific grills in 66 were painted all black with no natural metal edges like the standard standard 66 Grills. This is not my grill, but you're saying the thin leading natural metal horizontal edges on GTs isn't there as shown in this image, all black instead, ok, makes my painting work easier :)

Thanks,

Jason

When ordering a replacement grill from Ford, was there a different part number for a GT?  Was a standard grill just painted black to make it a GT or was it manufactured separately?  Thanks

There is only one listing in the '66 MPC for all, C6ZZ-8200-A
