My findings from 5 of the 3-port 289 valves I have. The valves with the long-full engineering numbers do not have date codes. Valves with short C6OE-C engineering numbers do have date codes. Jeff, one is dated 6B4. The others have the more typical 3 Number date in 67-68 range, instead of alpha-numeric.

Could it be that the Holley made valves had short eng. numbers and date codes, and the Carter made valves had full numbers and no dates? None of mine have manufacturer stamps.

Maybe (Carter) in 65-67 (and up a little) did then changed to the dating we see on some of the later dated versions we've found

They are date stamped!  (Or, they were date stamped, rather; most of the ink stamps are probably long-gone).  I believe these are the Carter-made valves.  The first shows Aug 31, 1965.  The second shows Feb 17, 1966.

I also found a die-stamped date of "194" on presumably a Holley valve i had handy.

Are all these valves from a V8 or I6 car..?
Looks to me for the plumbing and numbers, they are from a V8..

The NOS C6TZ is for a truck application (notice the 90 degree bend is different than majority of other images shared within this thread), the used valve (with hardware) is a 289 V8 application

Or at least some were stamped with the date ;)  Do you have any others with the ink stamp?

Ok, here we go...

Keep in mind this is just 66/67 289 anti-backfire valves except intake manifold type:

Of nine "C6OE-9B289C-L3554" valves, eight are mounted on C6OE-B (with extension) brackets. legible date of Feb 17, 1966, what looks like Jun something, 1966, and another illegible ink date stamp. The ninth is mounted on a C6OE-D bracket with a stamped date of Mar 11, 196x (can't tell if it's a 6 or 7).

"C6OE-C-L3554" valves: any still on brackets are mounted to C6OE-D brackets.  Dates: 693,602,6A1,6B2,712,714,724,732,734,764,784,943.  All of these have "Fomoco" on the top, I'm not including any stamped "Holley".

From this info, it would appear that Carter was the first supplier to Ford, based on the earlier ink-stamped dates (including the C6TE valve with an Aug 30, 1965 date i posted earlier, and an Aug 28, 1965 date on a C6AE-E valve in Bob Mannel's book on page 6K13) with Holley coming in for the '67 model year.

Also, I would guess that the odd Holley dates (602,6A1,6B2) would translate to Oct. 2, 66; Nov. 1, 66; Dec 2, 66.  (0=10th month, A=11th month, B=12th month).

Has a date been determined for the changeover from the C6OE-9B290-B to the C6OE-9B290-D valve bracket?

Thanks for the data points and observations. Will compare it to what I've got as I'm sure others will

Has a date been determined for the changeover from the C6OE-9B290-B to the C6OE-9B290-D valve bracket?

Thread has been started in the thread below. Can be moved to the 66 section if the change is found to have taken place during that production year. Haven't found time to try and see what my pictures and notes can add to the discussion
