1969 and 1970 Mustang Doors
« on: September 10, 2016, 02:12:14 AM »
Put together a quick two page article on the difference between the 1969 and 1970 doors.  See this coming up alot as people look for the correct doors to buy for their projects, hopefully this explains it easy.

Not easy to find rustfree, no issue 70 doors either!

Ask me how I know!

I updated the document tonight to change wording on the door data plate and also clear up when the 1970 style doors started being used.

Details of this nature really help to improve judging standards. Bravo. (I envision many 69-70 owners running out to their cars right now, taking another look ;) )

When I first heard of the difference between the 69 and 70 doors I had to see for myself.  The pictures Marcus posted show the diff's quite well.  The written description is a little harder to understand.  For me anyway.  The only, easy and accurate, way to ID my 69 doors is using the date stamps which are behind the door panels.  Brian

Thats right Brian.  Doors have the date codes and are a really good way to identify when they were assembled.  But looking at your picture, if we did that at a car show I think probably a few owners would lose their minds.  We havent reached that judging level yet where we can take off door panels.....   ;D

The challenge is that the date code doesn't tell you what year the part was made (if its an original Ford item) only month - day of month , stamping plant  (sometimes not) and shift

Your picture shows 9th month (Sept) 10, Woodhaven,  Michigan plant,   2nd shift
