Trunk Weatherstrip Issue
« on: September 03, 2016, 09:35:20 PM »
Long story short i just finished up detailing my trunk. Still had the original weatherstrip that was covered in paint and god only knows how much weatherstrip adhesive that was probably added half a dozen times over the years. I ended up stripping it down to bare metal and repainting the underside of the deck lid. I took my time and Applied the new weatherstrip correctly. First test fit was tight so I adjusted the striker. Its extremely hard to close the trunk now however my real concern is that its not flush with the quarters anymore. Ive heard that it may settle after awhile.. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

It really is a poor reproduction seal problem. The Drake is too hard as is the Daniel Carpenter that is made in China. The Daniel Carpenter that is mad in USA is pretty good.

Try this thread:

As mentioned in the thread, OE Ford Replacement COMB-6443720-C fit very well without such issues and are usually still available on eBay, you might try a search over there. Try searching "NOS TRUNK COMB-6443720-C"
