Replacement for '65-66 Turn Signal Wiring Sleeve
« on: August 30, 2016, 10:21:33 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has found a suitable replacement for the rubber sleeve that goes around the turn signal switch wiring on a '65-66.  This is where it exits the bottom of the steering column, and is briefly visible before it connects to the underdash harness.  I know it's not usually a part that wears or needs replacement, but the original from my '65 convertible is missing and it's always bothered me.  I looked for a few minutes at Lowes last night, but didn't see anything similar.
Too much junk, too little time.

I thought of that as well.  So far, all of the shrink tubing I've found looks similar at a glance, but it's nowhere near the thickness of the original rubber sleeve.

You may consider if the thickness of the heat shrink once it has shrunk a better comparable . Of course you will have to play with the outside diameter of heat shrink to start out with prior to shrinking. Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you which over size diameter of heat shrink to start with to get the correct close reduced size as the factory tube once heat shrunk.  For me it is easier to get the tube from a parts car because I can find access you may not.

+1 on finding a donor. I wouldn't think this is a highly sought after part and should be readily available from a salvage yard that has older Fords. Unless your looking for NOS? :o
