69 Oil Sender
« on: August 26, 2016, 10:59:56 PM »
Early 69 assembly line oil pressure sending unit with green/insulator, FoMoCo stamp and 6J8 date code.  Used on tach cars with warning lights.  Screws into the oil filter adapter and was used in earlier years, I think 66-68, and probably across the different car lines.  Used in the the big block Mustangs ?  Date stamp follows the usual year-month-day format or is it day-month-year ?  Thanks for the help.  Brian

Got a part number? So it can be research. Might be one in a box out in the garage - just looking to save that step :)

Ford, as of April 1968, was selling the following units for 68 CJ's

C8AZ-9272-A if equipped with tach & tripodometer - Sender is stamped with a #6

C6SZ-9272-B if not equipped with tach & tripodometer - Sender is stamped with a #100

Each part number lists another dozen or so applications. Since these same applications (using an earlier part number or the same number on the box) was sold in earlier production years it could explain  a 1966 date code on a sender unit)

Did locate a couple of pictures of the green top. Have them with both the push on and the slide on attachment for the wire. Likely carried different part numbers

Date stamp follows the usual year-month-day format or is it day-month-year ?  Thanks for the help.  Brian

Since it's a out sourced part - not sure. Will need to look at other sending units to see what pattern shows up (numbers over 12 in one of the two locations - before or after the month)  to be sure

Recently got another C8AZ-A oil sender.  This one is stamped with a #6KA7.  The #6 could indicate for Tach/Tripometer as mentioned above ?  FoMoCo stamped and with a slightly different configuration at the outer radius.  Brian
