67 390 Oil and power steering dip sticks

I am hoping someone can post a few pictures focusing on this area of the engine...preferably one that is also equipped with AC.

Could you elaborate on what boundaries in the picture ? So one knows how far back or close to take the picture.

Would likely help (from a finish point of view) what PS pump you have - Ford or TRW

Not sure if there is going to be allot of 390 picture  but maybe we can deal with what your looking for on the component level if we need to

I am wanting to get an idea of how the two dipsticks are oriented to one another and in relation to the AC fittings. I am fairly certain my stuff isn't original, but the current pump is teal....possibly Ford Thompson. I will be checking into it at some point.

Right now it is quite a maze to try and fish the oil dipstick around the PS dipstick and hoses.  I was hoping to see what it "should" look like. I will try to get a picture of the area I am talking about.

Ok now I understand what your looking for - thought it was related to finishes also

SO none of these pictures may represent the angle and position that they were in as they left the factory. Now they just show how the owner/builder last inserted the, :)

Hope this helps. Looks as if they both curl rearward you have more room and less possibility of rub

Here's the best I can do for what I am looking at. It looks PS dipstick handle might be wrong, the oil looks correct to me and is stamped with p/n...thoughts? Does the orientation look correct? I have also attached a picture of the tag...not sure if the pump is original, but seams plausible. There is plenty wrong with my engine bay, but I am working on it :)

The P/S dipstick is not 67,68 or 69 I think that style started in 1970 .Others will have confirm . At any rate it is incorrect for 67.  67 will have the almost complete curl thumb pull and also the unique to 67 the metal stamped instructions on the thumb pull curl opposed to on the inside measuring section like 68/69. Also on oil dipstick it would be better to pull the stick and take a picture of the base to confirm if 67 assemblyline type and to confirm the engineering number on the measuring portion.

Although the dip stick is probably very low on my to-do list, I guess this dipstick would like to know:). Here are some pictures. As for the picture above, the handle of the oil stick is basically resting on the tube of the PS pump. Is that normal?

I think you have the wrong dip stick tube or it is bent. It should be behind the PS pump and angle out ward toward the apron.

+1 . tube holding tab bolts to the exhaust manifold . We could speculate all day what is wrong with it . The fact is something is wrong. It is too easy to get another . Try  Mansfield Mustang or Carls Ford parts. Plan on replacing the poor fitting and poorly made P/S upper pressure hose on the back of the pump. It looks like that one will be in the way of the correct dip stick tube . That may be why the tube was modified. The concours repro from Blue Dot sold through NPD is worth the extra money if you value your sanity.

Thanks guys!! I still find it utterly amazing what the experts can diagnose from a couple of crappy photos. I figured something was off, but didn't have a clue where to start. I will tackle this over the winter.

It's my understanding this should be zinc plated for the Thompson pump. Of course all repo I can find have the instructions on the stick. Does anyone know a source for the correct one?

Believe a donor car or pump is your source. Might post a wanted ad on site in hope that someone with one will find you.

As for orientation and angle of the dip stick tube here is a period picture that shows that detail - much our towards the outside as Marty mentioned and the earlier pictures showed
