1969 Tunnel/ Console Mount 8 Track Tape Player
« on: August 07, 2016, 01:54:19 AM »
Years ago, I picked up the above unit at a Swap Meet. Unlike my the Hang-On 1966 and 1967 units, it has no volume or tone controls. Thus, I am assuming that it used the radios amplifier and controls as opposed to being a self-contained unit ? I am planning to sell this unit soon, but don't want to "fry" it in testing to see that it works.
Does anyone have a copy of Ford's 1969 Instruction Sheet for this, or can tell me how the wires should be connected ? While all of the wires seem to be present, the connectors had been cut off when I purchased it years ago.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bob - got a picture of it?

Never seen nor head of on but it does sound like something I've seen/found on late 60's big Fords

Jeff : Yes, see attached. It does carry a C9AA-19A127 Part # stamped in the metal case, which would make one think "Big Ford", and what I would guess a "model number" of 15D42198B02.  However, we know that many times the "Big Ford" item was also used on other models. My problem is that I have no specific 1969 Literature (brochures, accessory catalog, etc.) in which I could research it. And of course, the 1960-68 MPC stops short, and the 1965-72 MPC was printed after many parts, including this, were no longer available.
Any help would be welcomed.
Thanks as always,

Bob

Not sure if I would term it as "many times" since many of the applications were specific since they relied on other features, details and even space.

In any case yes I've seen those in both wood grain and in black camera finish in Galaxies will see if there is any thing I can offer.  Doing some graphics for another   ::) article at the moment    :)

Thanks for the link ! That at least explains its application. Now to figure out how it should be hooked up.
