Trying to find the answer to this question, but getting lost in the search...1967 NJ built ,(actual build date of Nov. 66'), I am trying to determine if the shock mounts on top of the shock towers were painted black or left bare metal. I have seen them black in a prior search of an unrestored 67' NJ convertible but want the second opinion.................
Looked through my collection of pictures - threw out cars that appeared to have had a rattle can restoration of the engine compartment and I still came up without a clean cut answer. Best guess at this point would be that they may have started out black and changed the finish to P&O later in production
7T01T1310x - Looks to be the same finish as the shock tower support
7T01T13101x - Looks to be the same finish as the shock tower support
7T01C1490xx - Painted over ?
7T03A15238x - Phosphate & Oil
7T01T150x - Black
7T01C1917xx - Rust - not like shock towers - Phosphate and Oil ??
7T03T2225x - ?
7T02K2604x - From a show. May have been redone though car was presented as unrestored
NOTE: Will split these two posts off into a new thread for others later
