67 AC Help

I am putting together a factory AC unit that was in the trunk of the car when I purchased it. It is a factory air car as per the Marti report. There is very little info as to the vacuum hose routing in the factory shop manual. Are the vacuum actuators reproduced. What would the vacuum pressure be for normal operation? Any source for parts would be of great help.

Try the search feature, a recent thread on vacuum components should be found in the 67-68 section. Yes, the vacuum actuators are still available, even from Ford (Motorcraft YH161)but none of them are "Concours" in looks (and one sits below the dash, very easily spotted at a show)

For what it is worth, there is a later version of vacuum schematics where the hoses are routed differently under the dash. (shortened) In the recent thread disscussion.

it would be under Reply #9, the "COLORED", or LAST image.

The source of the Diagrams is the "1967 Vacuum Diagrams", Ford Service Training, Course 1760. It's an 11 x 17 GBC bound "book". The book itself shows no date on the cover, but many of the Diagrams have printed notes that say "Units Built Before October 18, 1966", or "Units Built After October 18, 1966".

I don't have a 67 manual, but the 68 version has a date in the lower right corner of every page, by the page number. The 67 doesn't have that?

Dave : I just checked my original  (as opposed to my scanned) version of the 1967 Vacuum Diagrams Manual, as well as my 1967 Wiring Diagrams Manual - neither has any dates except as I noted in my previous reply. Seems kind of odd that Ford did that. Maybe that's why the 1968 does have dates. I'll have to check my '66 Manual when I get back to Omaha at the end of next month.

+1 on Bob's comments about "No dates"
I can add regarding vacuum hose routing (and most ANYTHING on a 67 Mustang for that matter), having a little better understanding of some of the running changes in the vacuum hose routing of the '67 model year of Mustangs, that a restorer MUST FOLLOW OTHER EXAMPLES WITH SIMILAR BUILD DATES when determining how an example they are working on ought to be restored. These manuals are guides only, not always what was used on the production line, often (as in the case of this '67 model year [all Ford Cars for '67] SERVICE TRAINING Vacuum Diagram manual), these illustrations were assembled AFTER the production year began and in this situation, do not indicate any of the "Running Changes" at all for '67 Mustang models.

If a restorer needs a better idea of what they ought to duplicate for their project, a restorer might request or research more other original examples of their specific needs.

For 1967 Mustangs, I would have to say that it has the most number of Running Changes of ALL the Classic Years (64-1/2 to 73). Some of the dates of some of these changes are still only pencil marks in some of our notes.

Regarding Vacuum hoses for 67 Select-Aire systems, another variant could include Select-Aire cars ALSO EQUIPPED with Tilt-Away columns. Some later versions had a separate canister under the battery (read as two canisters) and some early versions had just the one under the right hood hinge (oblong canister) and a special "T" was used under the dash on those early versions. THIS IS NOT DETAILED ANYWHERE YET FOUND when these changes occurred, yet some illustrations Ford provided do show this "T" under the dash. (seen in the Osborn Manual for example, and found on October built original examples). Estimations so far have the change-over in about November '66. Still looking for more original examples to nail that particular one down. (my 11/2/66 SJ built example with Select-Aire AND Tilt seems to have been included in the EARLY version, but it had been tampered with long, long ago in a Galaxie far away).

Let's NOT get started on cars with Tilt without Select-Aire, that is another rabbit trail for another thread.
