1967 Paint Daubs - San Jose 07/17/67. C Code, w/C-4
« on: June 24, 2016, 07:25:59 AM »
I have a 67 Mustang (convertible) built in San Jose on 07/17/67.  289, 2 barrel, C-4 with standard axle ratio.  Nearly completed restoration with original parts.  I am trying to determine the correct paint daubs/markings for the drive shaft and rear leaf springs.  Can anyone help?

Have you tried the Search function yet? There's a good chance this application has already been discussed.

First welcome to the site - hope it helps you in your Concours efforts. You'll find that traffic here drops off a little during the summer and show season There were dozens of them this month so many members are attending them rather than being on here or at least as much as usual

Would need a few more things to find another match that might be close (you did include allot already - thanks)

GT or non GT?

PS or non PS?

AC or non AC ?

Jeff,

I appreciate your help.  The car is not GT, it does have power steering but does not have AC.  I have the Marti report if there is any other information that is needed.

Jeff,

I appreciate your help.  The car is not GT, it does have power steering but does not have AC.  I have the Marti report if there is any other information that is needed.

To get the best results it would be best (if you can) to provide the engineering number from the original springs. Without it we're sort of left with trying to find a matching buildsheet. If we have the number we can used the buildsheets as well as pictures and notes taken from springs found off of cars or even cars that we don't have all the details for

At this point I don't think I'm going to find a matching very late 67 convertible C code buildsheet

Just trying to provide the best info we can.

Managed to take a look under the car.  To the extent that I can make out the part number it is as follows:
C7ZA-
5556-Y
??-7F

Since the leafs are installed, the two characters to the left of the 7F are obscured by the bracket.  I fear those might be the characters that you need to determine the paint daubs.  It may be a few weeks before I can disassemble.  Please let me know if this information is vital.

Thanks

That is enough and thanks. Do have records of that spring as being marked with a single silver stripe. Short leaf between the stamping you found and the end of that leaf at the back end.

Unfortunately 67 build sheets do not include the paint markings like later years did. Let me see what I can find after looking at notes and such

You are a fantastic help.  Every bit as good as advertised.  Any info on the drive shaft?

Thanks again.

Best I can come up with based on what I currently have in notes, Ford documents and pictures I offer the following

1 - The buildsheets show different drivelines being installed during the production year

C7ZW-G (from car dated Sept 66)

C7ZW-A (from cars dated Nov 66, May 67)

C7ZW-H (from cars dated Jan 67, April 67, July 67)

2- Below is an example from a scheduled March 67 built car matching your car as far as options

Hope this helps in some way
