67 Lap and shoulder belts
« on: June 16, 2016, 02:01:17 PM »
I am working on a july 67 Metuchen coupe and I need front seat belts - standard interior, Black.  The car's owner would like to upgrade to the shoulder harness.  I am looking for recommendations as he would like to remain with the original look.  Lots of online seat belt offerings.  I am wondering if anyone has found anything that is new that looks original?  I know I am on the concours site - so there is only one correct answer.  However, I am exploring options.  Thanks for any suggestions.

If you want to go sneaky concours, I would send 2 sets of 1967 lap belts to Python for restoration / re-webbing. Instruct them to use the 1967 hardware but with 1968 specifications with shoulder belts.

You will need to install an anchor nut in the roof structure.

The nutclip in question has a part number - 381513-S2 (surprise). It is scarcer then hen's teeth. Not many 67 Hardtops or Fastbacks came with an optional shoulder belt. As far as I can tell, it has not been reproduced, and when I checked with both Ssnakeoil and Python belts, they didn't have any. Go to the AMK Guide to Ford Fasteners for a picture and some basic dimensions. The only way you are going to get shoulder belts is to make a pair of these nutclips.
