67 speedo cable
« on: June 12, 2016, 09:52:54 PM »
Is there a difference between a 390 c6 cable, and a small block c4 cable?
Length of the c6 cable?

Yes there is a difference. The C-6, C-4 and the 3spd all enter the transmission on the LH side. The 4spd enter on the RH side making it longer, regardless whether it is a big block or a small block.

I believe (without verified research) that all three applications that enter the transmission on the driver side (left side) are the same replacement part number and the 4-speed version (enters on the right side (passengers side) of the trans is the only different one.

C-6 applications are slightly more to the rear (slightly different hardware/length) so I would not be surprised that for "Factory Use", Ford had a different engineering number than the C4 or 3-speedo's, but about 100% sure the Service Part would be the same.

Yes, kinda what I was saying.

Fairly sure later MPC's show the non-Speed Control cars with only two available (again, without verifying) one for a four speed and another for all others.

Can report that 1968 MPC lists 9 different choices for 67 Mustang speedo cables so

Maybe by almost 10 years later only a few versions were left - would make sense and match our understanding that Ford tried to redesign and reduce the number of parts to reduce inventory needs and costs. One of the reasons "NOS" is not equal all the times to original parts and details

Just for the record the 68 version list 5 versions for 68 Mustangs
