65 wheel Color Question
« on: April 11, 2016, 12:21:25 AM »
I'm getting ready to put new tires on my 65 "A" code convertible and am planning on painting the wheels in the process. They are original wheels, code 5MF. They are currently painted white and I am not sure I have ever seen 65 wheels that are white. Does anyone know if there were ever white wheels delivered on a 65?

Aren't they painted the color of the car?

Should be semi-gloss black.  On some later models, I believe starting either 67 or 68, if wheel covers were not ordered on the order sheet, the car came with painted wheels and center caps... commonly referred to as 'poverty caps'. :)

Thanks for the help. They are not painted the color of the car, the car is twilight turquoise.

I bought it last year and it is pretty much all original.

Consider that the wheel is over 50 years old now... lots of possibilities of how it came to be painted white, not all pointing to it being that way since new.
