67 door speaker wiring access (am/8 track radio)
« on: April 09, 2016, 09:23:04 PM »
Will I have access to check the speaker wiring if I remove the deluxe, door panel grille....or will I have to remove the actual panel?

You'll need to pull the panel

You may have limited access if you remove the speaker.

Marty  : I thought of that also - However, the trick then is, how do you reinstall the speaker without being able to hold it from the back, in order to line up the holes in the lower door with the speaker's captive nuts so that the machine screws can be reinstalled ?  Possible, yes with a little ingenuity, but definitely not easy without removing the actual door panel.

Carefully pull it forward by catching the edge frame with the edge of a credit card or something thin but not sharp. Pulling the door panel would be my first choice.

Originals might have a water shield over the speaker too. It gets a bit clumsy trying to line too many things up if you cannot get at least one hand behind things. I imagine it could be done but I would be highly concerned about accidently puncturing a speaker cone with a screw.
