Backing Plate dab?
« on: April 03, 2016, 04:48:56 PM »
Was cleaning up my backing plate to soak and removed the parking brake cable and came across this blue mark. Anyone else see this before?

It may have transferred from the e brake cable if on a 65.

Thanks Bob and Charles.  Looking back at your blog Charles, I see where the blue was, was actually on the rubber itself with yellow on the prongs.

Right, blue on the conduit ends for a V8 car.  The I6 rear cables were identified by yellow on the conduit ends.  Although both versions had the yellow lock prongs that are seen from the inside of the backing plate.

Opinion needed. Will this backing plate still work or will I have problems with these gashes?

if they were mine i would weld them up & grind smooth. grooves that severe will prevent the shoes from moving properly. now's the time to fixit. imo.
