Well, here are the ECS decals. The engine decal and the battery decal. Dec San Jose build. Here for your critique.
Just me but I would find a large tape dispenser and redo the ends of the engine ID tag so they match in style (may just be the picture angle) I've done this before and in an effort to make sure it doesn't get too short I add a little packaging tape (use the dispenser to redo the ends) to both ends attaching it from the back side not sticking it to the face. Then I bend it over the cutter for a fresh cut. If I don't want to tear it I bend it sharply and rub something line a stick across the end to make the heavy jagged edge
First we have to understand that originals are very very rare and I've sort of focused (when I could find any originals to document and capture) on for allot of years. These are ikely one of the most difficult decal to find in readable condition.
Originally they were made on a simple uncoated paper sticker they were only meant to last maybe a few weeks or more. Basically an in house or get it to the dealer thing. In humid climates the moisture attached these quickly wrinkling and shrinking them quickly. This also effected the ability to read how they were filled out since some of them were done with ink pens and pencils
Also reproductions have been around for over 30 years in one form or another but their vinyl makeup makes them visibly different from originals.
- As for the battery decal for a 67 San Jose. I have only seen the blue style decals used during that period. Actually we start seeing its introduction into use in late 66 production at San Jose and Dearborn. It does share the non- intersecting lines with the one in your picture
- At San Jose I have not yet found an original with the reading written on the sticker - just the use of OK by the inspector
- In late 66 and 67 San Jose date stamp included the year also in the pattern and was not in red
- All the original San Jose 67s I've seen had a different style inspector stamp used. Well sort of - they are both round. Diameter was smaller (maybe half the size of your example) and included an initial and a number in a pretty small font.
Back in the 80-90's someone reproduced the blue style decal but haven't seen it for a number of years.
Hope this helps a little
