years back some one was reproducing the paper tag that usually wrapped around the left side axle tube. Remember I bought one for a 69 Mach. Are these still made and where are they available?

I know they have the aluminum tags but I'm referring to the paper tag, they have that also?

Yes they also have the paper tag that wraps the axle.

Don't know if all applications are being made but commercially Jack is the only one I'm aware of that is selling them

dave riley makes the paper tags  I have a green late 70 paper tag & I think 71 is green paper also  don't know if its worth making the later version

Ed have you ever compared to see if the color relates to the gearing?

Sorry. You are right the Marti Auto tag is the metal tag and not the paper wrap decal. I did get my paper tag from Jack at Dead Nuts On. Jack is a great guy and easy to work with.

Brown toast seems consistent.  No wait that is what they typically turn to from white.

Reason I ask is I've got examples of white, pale green, pale blue and  red originals across the classic period

Only one I have never seen is a 4.30 label all the others appear to have been White.

whats paper color got to do with the size of gears as the code told you what gears were inside.   We had a 2000 mi. late 70 b2 in shop years ago  & the tag was completely around housing yet in excellent shape & paper tag was green.

Like colored paint marks - there is a possibility that the worker could use it to quickly identify the correct rearend for a specific car coming down the line.
