Does it make a difference where you relieve the pressure at.  The service manual says to do this at the distribution block, or should it be done at the wheel cylinder.

I have done it both ways . More messy at the distribution block IMO. Regular brake fluid devolves paint .

I would have to agree, I tried centering up at the distribution block last weekend after I bled the breaks, it was very messy.  I'm using the DOT 5 brake fluid so I'm okay with the paint but its still a mess in the engine compartment.  I will have to try it again and step on the brakes hard to see if I can get the piston to move, the switch tested okay.

Back when the cars were new sometimes just really 'STANDING' on the pedal would center it and turn out the light.

I think i got the centering tool  from NPD a couple years back.

Guess where NPD gets them?
