Corrct Date Codes VS Car Production Date
« on: March 05, 2016, 09:58:33 PM »
Not sure where to ask this question.  When you have a 69 Dearborn June 12th Shelby is there a general rule for Date codes for power steering pumps, distributors, steering boosters, carbs etc... Such as within 1 month of cars production? two months?

Thank You

Depends on the part.  In general I would guess 2 weeks to maybe 2 months depending on what was going on - union issues, subcontractors, suppliers.....

Have some drivetrain parts from a June 69 Dearborn from Jan but in general that is an extreme for most cars.

On allot of cars I have data from I don't always have the real build date (can't get Marti reports for hundreds of cars :(

I think a lot of the varing date codes depends on how & who & when shipped parts were shipped to assembly line & how inventory was rotated stored stocked or back ordered or short on supply & new shipment went straight to the assembly line & not buried in inventory etc

Jeff, what would be a common reason for not being able to get a marti report ?

I think what Jeff meant by that was "cannot afford to purchase Marti Reports for hundreds of cars". ~ Like my Eliminator files, I imagine Jeff has many cars on file but no Marti Report for many of those cars, and purchasing them would be cost prohibitive.

Hundreds    ::)  lets talk thousands  and I don't want to take advantage of friends or favors.  I might need something (have been great help in the past) at some point plus its not very friendly  ;) .

Just for the heck of it I added the Mustangs and Shelby's I have info and pictures to (not counting the unlabeled, unsorted and others that I've just collected date information) multiplied that by the cost for the Deluxe report and it came out to right around $3,000,000 :-\

I'm sure Kevin might be able to give you a discount based upon volume...perhaps to $2,999,999.

Sure Kevin would be more than happy to help out - been friends for many years. But anyway you cut it is too big of an ask.
