Topic: New to forum; 68 Shelby Rear Valance Guard Question

Hi to all, I'm new to this forum. I'm building a 68 GT350 that came completely disassembled down to the last fastener. The tail light panel and valance are new and I have no idea as to placement of the valance guards. Is there a instruction sheet out there or can someone supply measurements?

Welcome,given what you just posted the best advice I can give is to immediately purchase a SET of the aseemblyline manuals. This is standard operating procedure here so as to give you a leg up so to speak. These are not to be confused with the single shop manual although you should have that also. The assemblyline manuals are available from any of the larger parts vendors NPD,Virginia to name a few.  The assemblyline manuals with show illustrations that will save you hours of time and frustration plus assure the correct placement (as in the bumper guard you mentioned). The books also give you the Ford numbers for the nuts and bolts etc. used.  A companion book to go along with the assemblyline manuals is the AMK guide to fasteners. This will decipher the Ford number for the fastener and show you what the different nuts and bolts will look like as well as explain the different finishes. Best of luck with your project.

What Bob said is true, the Mustang Assembly Manuals are helpful, even though they are about 90-95 percent accurate. The differences are plant related and running changes that Ford made in the assembly line. Other reference sources are the AMK Guide to For Fasteners, and the AMK catalog itself. However, Shelbys are very specialized and occasionally inconsistent as they were built by Ford, but adapted by others. That makes life interesting.

Wow, I completely forgot the assembly manuals and I even have them from a '67 project from years ago. Thanks for the nudge...
I've got the "Unique Parts Catalog" (Jim Osborn MP58) and an older AMK catalog I will replace. I also see a Shelby Assembly Manual (NPD pg 314 L-31M).
