+1 Low mounted alternators are usually associated with the thermactor pump...Looks to be an early car too, as it doesn't have the "Powered by Ford" chrome valve covers

Low mount has to do with thermactor, the air pump was mounted on the top alternator below. What is the DSO of the car. Big block cars sold in California had thermactor.
I have a California car with no Thermactor emissions.
Bob, Very perceptive. It's 400. I don't know if I should ask this elsewhere, but would that make the 400 engine sticker correct as well?
In this pic of a 12000 mile Dearborn Scode, from the "67 390 air filter housing" thread, it shows a low mount alt.Was this common? I had always thought it required smog equipment to have low mount,if no smog, then high mount automatically.I had always thought that my low mount was incorrect .... and it probably is.
