Topic: 68 Disc Brake Splash Shield

Long time viewer and first time poster.  I am looking for verification on the front disc brake splash shield for 1968.  I have a 68 390 Fastback (NJ car)(4/25/68 production).  If I am right, the brake splash shields were non-vented for this year?  I am pushing for rebuilding the brakes and suspension as the car should be going to paint is a few weeks.  The shields removed from the vehicle were pitted and one had a few holes in it.  Also both shields appear to be identical and not right to left dedicated.  Would that be correct or did a PO get funky here?  Finally if these are correct, would anyone have at least one good one available?  Thanks in advance for your support and assistance.

First welcome to the site, there is a lot of experience here that is willing to help you.
The nonvented  you have pictured is correct. There are however left and right sides. I thought they were stamped LH and RH. They were both natural and painted black. Since your are pitted I would do some body work on them and paint them black. I have some but they would require a lot of hammer and dolly work.

Thanks for the information.  Unfortunately I have not found anything on these to designate RH or LH. I  cannot see a difference in either one of my shields.

1968 are the same for left and right as far as I know.

NO lh rh 68 1 year only brake shields both sides the same & only difference I see is the vendor id stampings as 1 is fomoco in rectangle & other is fomoco in oval stamp & a triangle id stamp along side the fomoco oval.  69-71 vented shields are lh rh.   I am cleaning some 68s now that I collected from some southwest (rustfree) parts trips years ago that I am selling when finished.

Yes you guys are right I was thinking of a 68 that I installed discs on that had the latter 69 vented style that were LH & RH.
