Ralf,

Yes to confirm I have enough original spare parts to provide the "cores" that you need.  I'm about 20 miles from Vacuum Orna-metal.  http://vacuumorna-metal.com/content/custom-vacuum-metalizing

I found this website for Burton - http://www.burtonantiqueautoparts.com/store.php#!/1967-Ford-Mustang-GT-&-Shelby-Deluxe-Brushed-Aluminum-Original-Fit-Dash-Insert-Set-w-Backup-Plates/p/17316187

So as long as prices hold, you are looking at somewhere around $380 for chroming (based on Keith's data) plus $285 from Burton (per their web site) plus the core charge.

Whether or not you have factory select air (in-dash) air conditioning or not will have some effect on the chroming cost.  Looks like Burton's cost is the same either way.

I can't say for sure what the chroming cost for that one part will be until I stop by and talk to them.  Keith paid $325 for four pieces.  Your one piece is the most complicated by far, so I would probably guess $200.

You can check the Burton site to see if they sell the instrument cluster bezel piece only.   Others can chime in, but there might be a risk in a mismatch with the other pieces you have.

Mismatch...hm...ok, but not tremendous I guess.
To do all parts is far to expensive....considering shippment and tax cost to GER.
Burton offers round about $370 w/o shipping (and tax) for a complete set....can not find if they sell bezel or bezel insert seperatly.

Ralf,
I have a 67 LH and RH deluxe pieces there now to be replated. The LH side is $188.00 and the RH is $80.00. I have the Burton set and will post some pictures latter. BTW I think they will sell them separately.

Does Burton screen the "brake" & "wiper" script "as original"?

I know I bought a NEW Ford service replacement back around 1979 and Ford used a decal instead, it was really cheesey looking in my opinion

That is exactly what I saw as well and I was always wondering that a NOS part had a glued on decal "brake + wiper" you could rip off.
It seems to me Burtons is laser etched. What was the factory "technology"?

Pretty sure it was screen-printed.

I do have an A/C in dash. What is the difference for the bezels? AC vs non AC?
And again I'm looking ONLY for the bezel incl. insert, not all 4 parts around.
Ralf
Being you have AC, you're in luck. The left and right side ducts are reproduced. I think they're about 200.00 for a set from NPD. That's two parts you can get brand new. You'll have to have the cluster housing done, and the right side over the glove box. The cluster was 168.00 and the right side he charged me 60.00. I am a veteran, so he gave me a discount.

Burton sells the aluminum insert for the speedometer housing, the AC duct and controls and the right hand side of the dash. It's about 260.00.
Germany is the one that charges the taxes, not the U.S. If they are sent as a "gift" you won't get dinged for those stupid Value added taxes they do in the EU.

Here is the new Burton metal over the top of a original both are silk screened. The Burton is a pretty good match to the original.
The next photo is a NOS cluster with junk glued on metal with decals. About all it is good for is a core for replating.

The NOS replacements stopped using anodized brushed aluminum in the mid 70's. Ford went to a Mylar self-adhesive insert. It looks nothing like the original. The only issue I had with the Burton parts was the right side over the glove box. It was off enough that I couldn't get the tabs in the slot without filing the rounded edge down just a slight amount on the top side that tapers down.
As for cores, you could even use an NOS ford. The plastic housing is the same, the Mylar will peel off. Then have it re-plated with the new process. It looks so much better than NOS.

when they first came out i had no problems with them but a problem developed in recent years. They started making the triangle cut out for the turn signal too small . It is supposed to be on the outside of a raised edge surrounding the triangle made into the plastic. I spoke to them several times about this over site  . Has this issue changed for the better or is the insert still too small so that you only see a triangle opening WITHOUT the raised edge?

Bob,
I bought a set about a year ago. It went on my original re-plated cluster without incident. He did try to tell me that the right hand dash fitment issue was because of the plating process. I pulled an original that hasn't been re-plated and I had the same issue. I matched it up to the factory insert and the curve towards the center top on the right side was different, as I suspected.

So what about the turn signal opening? Triangle turn signal opening only or does the raised edge stick out also.
