Backing Plate Markings

Cleaning up more of the rear end, came across these marks on the back of the backing plate. I think others have found check marks, I guess my guy was lazy. Passenger side backing plate is far more dirtier than the driver side

Haven't ever found check marks just the lines that likely identified the size of backing plate for the worker assigned to assemble the rear end at the Sterling plant

Maybe he means tick marks?  Have seen 2 white lines near the adjuster holes on 65 SJ cars.

What is the assy plant for the pics above?  Good to know for future reference.

Believe his car is an Oct 64 C code from San Jose

I've got pictures labeled for K code with dual and single stripes one on a cardboard backing and one on the garage floor

Appears to be a practice seen through at least 73 - have 53 examples so far
