Any suggestions on how to remove the pumpkin from the housing?  All the nuts are off and it is not budging.  There was a lot of some kind of sealer around the edge between both surfaces and noticed they had forgotten to put the copper washers (and axle tag) back when they re-assembled it.  There isn't much to pry on to pull it apart...

Ummm...don't forget to first remove both rear axles.  The pumpkin won't come out with the axles installed.   :P

Those have been out for a couple of weeks now  ;)  While on the subject, what color is everyone using for the red oxide?  It appears to be more orange red than a deep red per the pic with the bottom of the pumpkin with the 8 marking...

Been using the PPG epoxy primer (red oxide color) straight out of the can. Guess a little tinting would be good if your going after the more orange - if that is not a result of the flash and the true color

The shade is definitely different from what is underneath the car if that helps (under engine bay since back half is slop gray/black since Oct 64 car)...I can take pic without the flash on but those were taken with an IPhone.

Thanks - would try and match the color you see inside the housing (back side of the carrier)where it was protected from elements, cleaners .......

Does this look about right? Doesn't seem as red as others I've seen. The paint can is on the left

Doesn't look as red, deep or "rich" as originals. Always found that if you look at the inside (since they were painted before machining as a unit) that is where some of the best color examples are

Believe I suggested the PPG epoxy red oxide like originally used. Not a rattle can. Didn't know that they offered a gloss red oxide in a spray can

I am. Waiting for it to dry some before taking a razor blade to it and then taking a fine brush with some black paint to hide the gasket and what ever sealer I couldn't get
