69 vs 70 doors
« on: February 21, 2016, 02:21:57 PM »
Anyone have a side by side pic with the differences between the 69 and 70 door inner structure?

Thanks

John

The 70's don't have door tag holes and at the bottom corners they made a change for the Mach trim.  Notice in the picture of one corner I repaired a rust issue the other day, on a 70 door, they made a bend in the inner structure for a hole for the stud to come thru.  Front and rear.

Not clear on what ' door inner structure ' means ?  This picture is of a 69 door without the 70 stud provision Armond pictured.  Something specific you are looking for ? Brian

Just found out the same thing after looking at several 69/70 Mustangs.

Thanks for confirming it.

Another picture showing the difference.

The most visible difference between 69 and 70 doors is the inner shell/panel in the lower corner where, during 70 production, they reshaped this area to provide a more solid attachment point for the exterior Mach I trim.

A picture to illustrate. In the 70 example you can see that there is a section of that inner shell that had to be reshaped and for Mach I's a hole drilled. Hope this helps others in their understanding of these differences
