WTB: Underhood light original/NOS 1967
« on: February 15, 2016, 01:46:03 PM »
Hi,
Looking for another part. Underhood light mercury switch original or NOS 1967 (incl. bulb, screw, clipses and wiring if possible)
C7ZB-15702-A
Today only a repro part has been installed. :'(
Thx, if smb. has such a part in a box somewhere in a corner....and would like to sell it.

Same what Richard bought in April 2015: ;)

Ralf, I'd like to point out a couple of suggestions on posting photos. Please don't take them as insults, I only mean to be constructive.

Very large images inserted into the text make it difficult to read through a thread, especially when a message is quoted and multiple copies accumulate. [They can be edited out of replies if the replier wishes] Second, when such images are linked off-site, from a German site in your case, they may not be visible to everyone. I can't see your photos when I'm reading threads on my work computer during my lunch break. Your site is blocked by our network. Lastly, images linked from other sites may disappear if that site experiences an outage or shuts down permanently. The images are then lost and the thread may become useless to future readers. Same with posting links to ebay auctions, etc. - they disappear over time and that information is lost.

To make the images as permanent as possible (as long as CMF itself is around), they can be uploaded as attachments to the posting, in which case they will appear in thumbnail version at the end of the image. Or, if photos are needed inside the image, they can first be uploaded to a member gallery and linked from there. Very large images can still be unwieldy, but they will be as permanent as possible.

I do not represent official CMF policy in any way, these are simply my opinions and suggestions as a common user. And if all of this is explained in a FAQ somewhere, I apologize for the duplication of effort  :)   And if my suggestions are out of line or contrary to official policy, I apologize profusely and blame it on my cat who was walking on my keyboard.  ::)

No problem, my appologies. Just made a c&p w/o adjustment.

Now corrected and hopefully ok.

NPD offers a very nice reproduction for about 50.00 U.S.  It's made by a friend of mine at Alloy Metal Products. Finding an NOS one is going to be a needle in a haystack.
An original in good serviceable condition will cost you about 225.00. Keep in mind that the Cougar also uses the same light.
West Coast Classic Cougar gets them from time to time.

Yes, I bought the part from NPD, some monthes ago. But not really happy with. Mercury switch works sometimes, sometimes not.
Therfore I'm looking for an original.
WCCC not in stock.

Here is some free advice. The lamp MUST face a particular direction. If it's not, the mercury switch with not operate at all, or sporadically.

IMHO you light is mounted incorrectly. Here is a picture of our 67 SJ built 11-04-66 hood light.

I am not an expert, but if it is a mercury switch, this seems more plausible. In Ralfs pic it seems like the switch would be open when the hood is open.

If I open the hood, light is turning on, if I close the hood, appr. 10 inches before totally closed, light switches off.
