Here is what I can add. I have found no mention in the 1967 Mustang Sales Brochure of any contrasting colors or "break-away" or "fixed" attachments. Interestingly, in the 1967 MPC, the Inside Rear View Mirror isn't even listed (at least that I have been able to find). However, in the 1960-68 MPC, for Mustangs, the following are noted ; C7AZ-17700-E1A (Black); C7AZ-17700-E1B (Blue); C7AZ-17700-E1D (Red); and C7AZ-17700-E1K (Aqua). These same mirrors are also shown with the same Part Numbers for Fairlanes and Falcons, as well as certain models of Full Size Fords. In addition, looking at the Full Size Ford listings, also noted are "break-away" mirrors (same part numbers only with suffixes of "-F1A", etc.) of the same colors, and for Mustangs and Falcons.
The 1974 OSI (Obsolete-Superseded-Interchange) Catalog shows the C7AZ-17700-E1A,D and K's were replaced (sometime between 1967 and 1974) by C7AZ-17700-G1A's, the C7AZ-17700-E1B being replaced by C7AZ-17700-G1B and then by -G1A, and the C7AZ-17700-F1D and K's being replaced by the C7AZ-17700-F1A's. Thus the C7AZ-17700-F1A and -F1B were still available.
By the time the 1965-72 MPC was printed (May of 1975), only the C7AZ-17700-F1A (which I believe is a misprint and should have been "-G1A" based on its description) and -F1B are shown as being available for '67 Mustangs, with the added note on the "-F1A"(Black one), to "Paint to match".
Based on the above, and particularly since the disposition of the Part numbers for the Red and Aqua mirrors shows up in the 1974 OSI, I believe that the color mirrors that I noted were available in '67. This is also somewhat substantiated in the link that 67gta289 referred to, where one owner's response noted that he had an "Aqua" mirror. I always wondered why my original mirror looked Blue; I guess someone on the line thought that Blue was closer to the Ivy Gold Interior than Black ??
Now that you are all thoroughly confused by the numbers, I'll quit by saying "Remember, it's all in the numbers".
