Looking for an original FOMOCO Instrument Bezel 1967 Deluxe in really great shape.



Letters not laser etched, think this is what repros have? Best I saw so far is Burton.

If there is smb who sells such a part, pls let me know.

Yes, bought already several OEM parts, like double exhaust tips factory and tilt stuff.....not in stock (Backlog).

The problem with many originals is that many NOS service instrument Bezels have the letters on a sticker instead of silk screened on the panel like assemblyline. The next problem is that the brush detail will not match the other dash trim pieces . Sometimes because they are older ones or ones from different batches . Best to get a set (all the dash trim pieces) so they all match. It took me years and considerable expense to find a matching NOS set and that was 25 years ago when the NOS parts were much more easier to find. Your best bet is to get one of the good trim sets. Burton comes to mind. I would verify if the turn signal triangle cut is large enough for the plastic triangle around the turn signal to be exposed like in your picture. I think Burton has fixed that but if they haven't use someone else . Another problem is that many NOS bezels are worn from sliding around in boxes. A bezel with worn edges in places is not doing you any good.

What about re-chroming? Especially on the 2 "rings" chrome has gone in underneath area and a bit blind above.

But plastic to re-chrome? Will not work out from a technical point of view, because part needs to be de-chromed first, than its probably scrap. Acid.

Chrome spraying? Result? May be than better to buy "new"?

your location in Germany complicates things. Yes, the trim panel can now be replace (a option we didn't up until about 10 years ago) and if you have a place over there that can "metalize plastic" it may be less expensive. Yes they first strip the metal off of the plastic part before re applying new. If done by a professional you can get it to look as good as new. FYI camera case dash core parts will not work with factory type deluxe interior brush trim . they are made slightly different.   I know that if you do not find a place over there then it would be a lot less expensive and easier to buy one of the good repros. FYI you will probably still have to buy a trim kit for the best consistent match in the brush pattern. I haven't bought any for a while but if the same  mfg was making all the dash pieces the brushed pattern may match too. You would have to verify.

I've got a few extra original bezels and a place nearby that applies chrome on plastic.  I'll be taking some parts there in a few weeks and will take pics of before and after.  If you like the results you can buy the core from me, pay for the chroming, and shipping.  Do you just need the instrument cluster?

Yes, just the instrument cluster/bezel incl. the brushed insert.
Just like shown in my picture above.

If your original brushed aluminum plastic is good, I know a quality plater that does good work, and does the black out on the instrument cluster. Burton's inserts will work in the factory trim and have the steel backing with tabs. The downside is that you'll have to work the passenger side a bit with a file. I suggest fitting them BEFORE sending them out for plating. Vacuum-ornamental Michigan does the best work I've seen to date. It will cost you about 325.00 US for the four pieces. The heater control/ Left side is pot metal. I think it cost me 55.00 to have it re-plated. If you need contact information to call the aforementioned directly, PM me. - FOMOCO Instrument Bezel (may be to be re-chromed)
- Burton Insert

I don't have either a FOMOCO Bezel, nor a Burton insert.

Had a chat with John in this who is looking to complete it and sell it to me.

Whether or not you have factory select air (in-dash) air conditioning or not will have some effect on the chroming cost.  Looks like Burton's cost is the same either way.

I do have an A/C in dash. What is the difference for the bezels? AC vs non AC?
And again I'm looking ONLY for the bezel incl. insert, not all 4 parts around.

Here are the pictures of my cluster. This is the OE ford housing with Burton's brushed insert.

It looks OK. Glad to see that Burton made the adjustment so that the lip around the turn signal opening protrudes through the in triangle opening in the insert like original.

I'm looking for buying a FOMOCO bezel in very good chrome condition incl. brushed insert screen printed brake + wiper (insert can maybe replaced by Burton screen printed)
