1967 Nebraska Centennial Special Coupe
« on: February 07, 2016, 01:48:54 PM »
Anyone know the desirability or  have other info on these specials?  Have a buddy looking at one.  It is a 289 / C4 with power steering.  It has the louvered hood and chrome rocker covers like the ad below describes.  Don't see the medallion supposedly offered.  The seller says it's verified by the VIN and door plate, but didn't list the info.

Here's some literature and article.  This article says "they've not found one yet".  Anyone know of one?

This blurb mentions a medallion:

"67 Centennial Sports Sprint Special
To celebrate Nebraska's 100th anniversary, the state's dealers offered a Centennial Sports Sprint Special. Based on the Sports Sprint model, it added a Nebraska Centennial medallion. Little is known about this special, but it is suspected that dealers were instructed to add the medallions to any available '67 Sports Sprint Mustang. It is not known as to how many were offered for sale or if there were special colors available."

Rich,
I am helping a friend restore his 67 Nebraska Centennial addition. It is a C code 289 D code Acapulco blue W/ C4 auto and PS. It is also a Sport Sprint. There is nothing on the Marti report indicating any thing special about the car other than the Sport Sprint. The car has been in my home town Weeping Water, NE. since new and I know the original owner who said that the dealer told them it is a Centennial addition and gave them a Nebraska Centennial medallion when they purchased the car.

Where is the car you are speaking of? I am not sure that the special addition add much value beyond the Sports Sprint. It would be important that the medallion was included. It was a neat regional promotion.

I agree in that often these regional specials don't add value (to the general population) but they do make the car sometimes easier to sell.  Most want to stand out from the crowd and special promotions is surely a way to get that attention especially if the car is done well and a little information is provided.

I just happened to buy one of these Nebraska Centennial Special badges this week. I thought it was cool and would look great on the tail light panel.

That looks nice enough to have it restored. Was the ribbon originally red and the rest (updated: GOLD) chromed?
If you get that restored, maybe show us a picture?

I am not sure how it was finished. I have never seen one before but thought it may have been just this gold finish since it was 100 years.
