Antenna lead mounting clips
« on: February 01, 2016, 03:24:23 PM »
Hello,

I purchased an antenna from NPD and it came with the two plastic clips to secure it to the door jamb (I presume creating a drip loop).

What I am not certain of is how co connect the clips to the lead. When I look at photos, I see two crimped metal bands on the top and bottom of each clip that secures the lead, but no such bands are included in the antenna kit.

Where would I get something like this?

Thanks,

Steve

Make them or find them on a donor car or antenna

I found the correct sized clamps and made the gaskets out of a piece of foam I had to recreate an original appearance using the repro parts.  I thought it came out OK.

Repurposing fuel clamps?  Great idea

Look like they work - and it would be difficult to anyone to see these from an angle to see the markings or other details.  Looks like you found a solution for the time being

Need to go out and take a clear picture

Those look nice, Jim.

I will look for similar clamps.

Looking at the 69 Mustang Electrical Manual, those two retainers are supposed to be part of the original antenna assembly mounted on the cable and per the MPC under the antenna general p/n (18813) there are no separate parts.

I like it. AMK has "pinch" clamps, the smallest (376545-S) has a range of 0.52-0.62 inch. With the cable and the plastic clip placed together, do you think that the AMK clamp will work?

I am thinking I did buy these clamps from AMK but cannot say for certain which ones I chose.  I am away from home or I could look at the receipts.  I did have an original antenna to go by with regard to placement of the clips and the look of the foam washers.

So their not fuel line clamps specifically

Did you save the measurements? might be a good thing to include in the thread at this point. Not sure if the one I have still has both clips in place - will check it

I think I ordered two different sizes of these pinch clamps from AMK, but don't recall which two.  And then chose the ones that fit best.

And no, I didn't document the placement of the clips but can measure these when I am home again - which won't be until March though.
