So I was quoted $350 to get the horn ring for my 67 re-plated. The $75 reproduction is looking very tempting.  Any suggestions / warnings?

Haven't used a repro one of those.  Might be worth trying, may need some tweaking to get it to fit right.

I got another quote for $160 to have mine re-chromed.  That seems more reasonable so now I am wondering why the big price difference between the two.
I think i am going to take mine to carlisle this weekend and match it up to some repros and maybe get a few more quotes to have it re chromed.

I'd be very careful about price hunting on re-chroming a piece with a lot of detail like the horn ring.  There are lots of areas that could easily be rounded and over-buffed.  It's not as straight forward (no pun intended) as something like a bumper.

Your right on the money.  I wondered around Carlisle with my horn ring.  I think there was a total of 4 diffrent platters there.  I asked each for a price and examined the pieces they had there.  Almost everyone was round $300 except one guy who gave me a price of $150 and then told me he could easily beat the price of the other guys by %30.  He had a few parts on display and as I started to closely examine them I noted a few things.  One piece he obviously ground the pits out and never leaved the surface.  Another piece there was some obvious pitting on a front face that got plated over.  Another piece I found the sharp edges were rounded over.  He even pulled out a piece that some one was coming to pick up that was similar.  He didn't even try to fix the pitting in the detail areas.  I hope that customer inspects his pats closely.  No one had a repro 67 horn ring to compare but I did check it to a 66 and I think the repros are probably good enough for now.  Very simple to change later if I have some spare cash.
