Valve Cover Gasket 289 2V
« on: June 01, 2010, 09:22:46 PM »
In the concours driven class for 65-66. Does it matter which material the valve cover gasket is made from?
Cork or black rubber?

Thanks,
Dave

The 65-66 (and later) valve cover gasket material was a rubberized cork, medium to dark in appearance.  You'll get a point deduction for plain black rubber gaskets.

Not to hijack the thread, but in 66 the gasket got painted, right?  So color is a mute point on mine, right?

Yes, that is correct.  The tabs need to be the correct shape though and in all the retaining slots.

ok on a mid 66 c code. are the valve covers painted on the motor when its assembled as to also have paint on the vc gasket? keeping this in mind then would the vc bolts also be painted?
