1966 6 Cylinder Valve Cover Fuel Line Clip
« on: January 17, 2016, 06:39:30 PM »
I just received the newest 2016 National Parts Depot (NPD) Catalog and found that the 6 Cylinder Clip (page 162) that attaches to the Valve Cover to hold the Fuel Line is now being reproduced. I would assume that other suppliers have it as well but don't know for sure; the Clip in the NPD Catalog just happens to be the first time I've seen it available.

Is this for 6 cylinder or V8?  Your title and message doesn't state though I believe the V8 ones ahve been available for a long time

The catalog indicates that it is for the 200 cid engine.  For 1966 V8's, the clip attaches to the front assembly (water pump?  I can't remember...).

And the poor little clip (shown on page 162 of the 2016 NPD catalog) has a name for identification purposes - actually a part number - 380726-S (NPD 380726-SA), and is shown on the 1967 Mustang Engine Equipment Manual, page 3 for 200 I-6 application. It is similar to the clip on the fuel line used on 1966 289 engines. Both the V-8 and I-6 applications in the 1966 Mustang Engine Equipment Manual, pages 3 and 5, show the same pre-production engineering number, XE-127320. In another thread, this was disputed.

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been after Drake and other repop suppliers for over 12 years to get this little clip made.  It is specific to 6 cylinder 1966-1971 Ford/Mercury six cylinder engines.  The V8 clip is completely different.  Kudos to Rick Schmidt for getting the "Poor Little Clip" into the 2016 NPD catalog.   I spoke with Rick on making this clip last year and he said that he would look into it, but at the time he had other similar projects on the back burner.  It looks like he found time and had it done.  Bravo.  The clip will definitely be a good seller for him!...Seeing as how noone else on the planet offers it, nor has since the 1970's.  I just have to wonder why it took sooo long for this little annoying clip to be made. All it is - is a little spring clip that holds Vacuum lines to the front of the valve cover.  Thank Rick for stepping up to the plate to finally get it done.

Nice that they are going to be reproducing this clip and it is in the catalog for $4.00. However, I called NPD today, they actually have not received any from AMD, the mfg, and aren't expecting any in until May earliest....

Seems to be a hard find for this little clip elsewhere. It actually is pretty useful in keeping the lines in the right places, beyond looking good.

Right, I looked into ordering one this morning, and all of the NPD locations were listed as being out of stock.  I wasn't sure if they sold out that quickly, or if they were only doing a very small run of the clips until they decided what the demand would be.
Too much junk, too little time.

I would be a fan of doing an AMK direct order for this part also, their catalog number is  B-14197-10 for this clip.
However, they  have a $30 minimum order and only sell the clip in packs of 10 for $31.25. I will wait for NPD to have the $4 clip for me, unless I can find 9 other friends with Mustang 6 cylinders I can break even on the cost with ;)

The clip is in! (maybe not at NPD yet, but I have obtained some). If you are going to Carlisle Ford Nationals in a couple of weeks, I would be happy to assist anyone that is looking for one- I have more than a few available. I have had one for a couple of weeks now, the original batch had to be sent back, seems the finish wasn't quite right and had to be sent back to the manufacturer.

I am doing this as a courtsey to the hobbyist- If you happen to be at the All Ford Nationals in Carlisle, I will be happy to speak with you. Other than that, I am not looking to do anything other than meeting up with other hobbyist for this. Sorry, not looking to do any sort of online selling.
