67 Buck tag - Dearborn
« on: January 13, 2016, 02:40:06 PM »
My 67 fastback was Dearborn built on 4/21/67. Where would the Buck tag be located? Marti report just has a - mark on the report where it says Buck tag. I ordered a new one from him & want to put it in the right spot.

Jeff, is the attaching screw for the buck tag unique to buck tag ?

The screw shown in the picture is used elsewhere - depending on year. The first place that comes to mind is retaining the roof weather strip channel to the upper edge of the door and window opening

What would be the correct screw for the OP, My car was built the same week and same plant and seems to have the same incorrect screw.

In addition to the location Jeff mentioned, I find those also on 67 upper console mounting brackets, 67-68 fastback rear interior panel brackets, 67 dash pad where attached to the windshield structure, and a few other places.  I've got a bunch of spares, PM me if you need one.  I'm sure others here have them and would do the same.  Phillips head, disproportionately large, sheet metal screw.  I would have to look again to see if it is self tapping.

I'm not seeing a pic on the OP.  Jeff's reply shows the screw, and would say that is the style I see as well.  Same screw I've seen on Metuchen buck tags, but of course they are not mounted in the same location.

For others viewing the picture I posted notice the horizontal line in the metal plate.

You'll find a discussion of some of the plants "recycling" the door and warranty tag blanks as buck tags in at least one other thread on the site.

Yes as you show 68 Dearborn is very different though the location is in the general area.

Jeff,

Funny how what caught my eye that it was a warranty plate was the perfect rivet hole on the left side of the tag. I completely missed the horizontal line.  :o
