If I understand correctly, inside of the front fenders was red oxide, with some coverage by the grey sealer primer overspray from the painting of the outside of the fender, followed by overspray from body color (all done before assy), then hit with sound deadener after assy.

When the car is actually assembled, is there any Red Oxide Visible? Any grey sealer primer visible? Or is it just sound deadener close enough to the edges that only body color is seen?

At your plant and time period you could have nice pretty full coverage with exterior color to a mixture (maybe 50/50) of red oxide and body color. Body color being found in logical locations and from a direct relationship of exterior application. Areas like the rear door opening edge, front face and behind from painting the headlight areas, directly behind the wheel lip and less along the top (fender to inner fender) and bottom edge of the fender due to the right angle produced by the sheet metal there

Rarely in my experience is the gray surfacer noticeable - more of a mist or dusting from its exterior application since it was pretty ,much a flat surface prep.

Sound deadener may or may not have been applied to much of the rear side of the fenders.

Being that the front fender was painted off the car and in a vertical position (I think headlight end up), overspray would be seen on the inside edges, but covered after installation and the front wheel sound deadener applied so "seen" would be with the wheel off and/or up on a lift, and then not much. Sound deadener for the rear wheel was applied at the same time, over paint. I assume the painter was not a rookie and did a good job. Jeff's photos show the actual results and plant particularities. The intent was more than the actual.

Let me correct the timing, the rear wheels sound deadened was applied at the same station as the inside of the trunk on the fenders, then painted.
