69 Shocks
« on: December 20, 2015, 08:45:22 PM »
The build sheet for my car under SHOCKS, line E, calls out ORANGE.  Does that indicate KONI's or something else ?   Metuchen, Sept. 19,1968 and Mach 1.  Thanks, Brian

The shocks were black with a spot of orange paint I think.
I think he orange spot was what the production line knew what shocks to use.

The buildsheet was the guide fro workers on the line to build the car. The items listed on the buildsheet were coded by letters, numbers, part numbers (shortened) and colors so that the worker could pick out the correct part for the particular car to speed up production. The codes, letters and numbers were labled on the bins for quick identification of those parts while the color coding made those parts (sometimes in racks or other holders) made that quicker

The Orange was just a simple somewhat small paint daub applied to the bottom end of the shock for that application. The rest of the shock would have been semi-gloss black as mentioned in many other threads here on the site

Guess your front shock on the buildsheet might be marked with white

Don''t know - would need to know what transmission your  car has.

Just as a suggestion you might want to include the basic info about your car in your signature (you'll see examples in other peoples postings) so that you don't have to type it each time you ask a question ;)

Ok will add in my Sig. It's a pretty low option 69 Mach R-Code. It is a 4-Speed car trans code 6 as I'm sure you know. It also shows it as an option which is strange to me...

Rear shock marking of orange would be correct/normal for a 1969  4 speed 428CJ equipped car.

close ratio 4-speed trans option isn't strange since 5 wide ratio is standard

Ok cool, I just figured since it said the same thing in the boxes area above it was standard as well. Thanks for the info... Anyone have a close ratio late 68 year 4 speed for sell  :)

No white would be front shocks. Rear for automatic marking was violet. For full year from what I can tell this moment but it would really help if I knew when your car was built ;)
