i just meant i won't be competing in contests with judges, i just always thought it was cool how people put back the factory markings. I didn't mean to insult anyone when i said "doesn't have to be accurate". Im just looking for some general knowledge.
No problem its (as you can guess now) just that we see allot of marks that don't belong on specific cars applied there only to have others copy and repeat the process.
You didn't tell us anything about your car - when (you posted the where) it was built as well as how it was originally equipped (engine size, transmission, PS or non-PS, AC or non-AC.....). All play a part in determining these details.
I would guess you have already searched through earlier posted information and pictures here on the site from those who own a car like yours
As mentioned, your car's buildsheet is the first and best place to find the general - typical marks specific for your car. We can only share general information since your car may have had some markings that were only applied to your car in that specific way or location. That's why it's important to document the car as it comes apart for the first time - so they can be reproduced.
Do you have the buildsheet? We can help you decode the information on it to usable paint marks after we discuss and share how they were typically applied. Buildsheet only shows colors - a small part of the total. But its a great start
